The proposition is simple – healthcare organizations need to supplement existing staff with experienced resources from time to time. This could be to implement a new PACS or EMR. Maybe an organizations culture doesn’t support changes needed to be successful. All businesses face challenges and none of us is immune from needing help to meet those challenges.

Historically the options to on board experienced resources was to place adds directly or go through recruiting firms. Hiring resources directly creates another challenge – if you had the expertise to interview a technical resource you probably would not need to hire them in the first place. Recruiting firms vet candidates and only bring the best and brightest. Or at least that’s what the marketing materials say. Often, recruiting firms place ads and or reach out to potential candidates via LinkedIn, Indeed or anywhere else they can find them. They compile a few resumes and then submit those. From there it is all up to the client to interview, on board, guide the contractor through that organizations processes and policies. And the recruiting firm disappears except for the 30-50% markup that you pay every hour those contractors work for you. Contractors make less and clients pay more and more importantly, there is little value received for that payment after the first month.
